Vision
SCOPE
SCOPE and The Porch Movement are different from anything you ever encountered. Were not service projects, student government, or a political group…we are culture change. We exist to work WITH you not FOR you.
We accomplish this by tapping into your self-interests and passions then gearing that towards public engagement. From artists to engineers SCOPE, is all-inclusive with its only agenda being to create a stronger community.
Core Team
A group of five to fifteen dedicated individuals. This team is the broad vision foundation of the organization. They meet on a weekly basis to discuss issues pertinent to their college and community. It works to provide a platform of active leadership and positive change. The core must be willing to work extremely hard and model such ethic to the entire organization.
In order to be more efficient, each member of the core team will be responsible for one or two objectives. Each role would be well suited to the individual’s talents and passions.
Leadership Team
This group is a series of groups that works as a liaison between the community and campus. The Leadership Team is expected to be active leaders taking risks to change the culture of their community. They work to keep the core team updated on neighborhood and university happenings. The leadership team should be connected to individuals and organizations that are specific to their passions.
As an ambassador you would be expected to attend meetings when necessary to address specific issues and stay updated. The team must strive to be a part of as many communities as possible. An active leadership team is immersed in the community and works WITH not FOR anyone.
Support Team
This assembly will be the largest tier made up of the boots on the ground. The team is for individuals who want to get involved immediately and gear their passions toward building a different community.
This team will work through the leadership team and with the core to provide the greatest scope of change. It is here where anyone can get connected to the community. Such an assembly yields the greatest power to create a powerful porch movement.
THE SHIFT
You’ve always wanted to be a part something bigger than yourself. You get pissed at things that seem too hard to tackle by your self. You go to school with great ideals then do nothing. Sorry…but all your excuses to no longer act have just been erased.
Society as it stands in impersonal and self serving. We live in a plugged in yet disconnected world…We have a challenge…We are the future, right? So what do we wanna do about it?
For starters…The focus can no longer be placed on the individual rather; it must be on the good of the society. As democracy creators, we must champion change. The time has come to no longer sit passively; but to take a risk to think beyond, dream out of bounds, and lay a vision that is ahead of our time.
